MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies were honored at Tuesday night’s commission meeting for their heroic work responding to an attempted suicide call back in April.
Deputy Dominique Williams and Isaac Munguia say when they arrived and saw the resident jump off a fence, they immediately took action–saving his life.
It was only Deputy Munguia’s second day on the job, but Williams says he handled it like he’d been on the force for 2 years.
“Before I could even yell at Munguia to tell him what to do he’s already running behind me jumping over the gate attempting to get him downapparently they do this a lot in the jail’s so he was already prepared for that and working together we get him down off the gate and get him to the ambulance and get him some help,” she said.
County Coroner Leon Jones says just this year in Macon-Bibb, there have been 13 suicides. Both officers were awarded a plaque recognizing their efforts to keep it at 13.
