MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell will be in Macon June 8th.
Their new movie, The Best of Enemies, will film at the Government Center.
Poplar Street will be closed between D T Walton SR Way and 1st Street.
Terrell Sandefur, The Chair of the Macon Film Commission, said the production crew made some changes to the Government Center to fit the 1960’s theme.
“Anything that has Macon on it, Macon-Bibb on it, they’re covering that up and they’re painting. They’re covering up modern, things on the wall that are too modern,” Sandefur said.
The production crew even covered up a monument in Rosa Park Square because it looked to modern.
Sandefur said there will be an area for people to watch the filming.
“This is kind of unlike the other productions we’ve had where it’s a completely closed set, and they didn’t want anyone around. It’s kind of hard to close this area off,” he said.
Megan McNaught, Curator of the Macon Arts Alliance, said it’s fun for locals to watch movies filmed in their town because they make comparisons between the movie and their city.
“You can say whether they have it right or wrong. You know sometimes people will show parts and they’ll give a city view and it’s not that city at all, so you know you’ll see what’s real and what’s not,” she said.
Sandefur said the exact locations of where people can watch the filming are not known yet.
He said residents can just go downtown Thursday and look out for the designated areas.
Filming for movie will begin Thursday morning and end Friday evening.
