MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones is urging everyone to look after neighbors.
64 year old Randolph Underwood was found dead in his home on August 6th. Jones says he was dead for about 6 days.
He believes a simple knock at the door can possibly save someone’s life if they need medical attention.
Jones explains, “If this person is an invalid, has limited mobility in a wheelchair, all they might need is assistance to go to the restroom or something. Because everybody can’t afford homecare, everybody can’t afford a private sitter.”
So far this year, 13 people have been found dead inside of their homes due to natural causes. Jones says some things to look for when checking on your neighbors are piled up mail in the mailboxes, grass needs to be cut that hasn’t been cut in a while or excess of news papers stacked up.
