PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s that time of year again. The Georgia National Fair is here. It’s the same classic feeling of being at the fair, but with more to do and eat.
“We have several more food vendors, we have a little more than 100,” said Georgia National Fair Marketing Director, Keaton Walker.
One that vendor that’s been so popular, is back and added one more stand at the fair.
“We’ve converted a number of people from Middle Georgia and all over Georgia into having a little taste of Wisconsin in them,” said Randy Reichert, owner of Hot Wisconsin Cheese.
You can find one stand on the north side of the fair, and the other on the south. Reichert and his staff start off with a 40 pound block of natural cheese, they cut, batter then fry it.
“We have Jalapeno Cheddar which keeps getting more popularity, our mozzarella and our cheddar nuggets,” said Reichert.
“A lot of new hype, that we’ve built is with the new attractions that we have,” said Walker.
You can’t miss it, the tallest attraction at the fair this year, the Mega Mile. The Mega Mile is biggest traveling ferris wheel in North America. It took four days to set up and 12 semi-trailers to haul all of the pieces.
At night, the 155 foot wheel lights up with an LED light show. It costs $5 to ride the wheel and enjoy the wheel.
Once you’re full, and/or want to sit down, you can catch a show at the Wolves of the World. You get to learn about 10 different wolves from all over the world.
“Lot’s of excitement, lots of new things happening,” said Walker.
All of the fun at the fair continues through October 15th. For a list of shows and events happening at the fair this year, you can go on their website, GeorgiaNationalFair.com.
