Fort Valley man killed in overnight crash


MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – 27-year-old Jecaives Hayward died after he was thrown from a vehicle in a crash Monday night on I-75.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Hayward was one of three people inside a Toyota Camry that hit the back of a parked tractor trailer near the Sardis Church Road exit just before midnight.

Deputies say 29-year-old Raymond Cox from Cordele was driving the car when he lost control in the right southbound lane and hit the truck that was pulled over in the emergency lane.

Hayward was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cox and 32-year-old Oker Smith from Fort Valley were taken to a local hospital and listed in stable condition.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt in the accident.

Deputies say no charges have been filed.
