MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Macon-Bibb County appointed a new interim county manager Tuesday morning.
During a committee meeting, Mayor Robert Reichert announced that Judd Drake, County Attorney, will take that position. Mayor Reichert says this actually suspends the search for a new county manager for a while.
Macon-Bibb county had been looking for someone to fill the position for months. The position was left available in April when Dale Walker resigned.
After interviews with applicants, Mayor Reichert says the selection committee decided to put that search on pause.
“With all due respect to all the applicants none of them quite satisfied all of the expectations and hopes and aspirations of the selection committee,” said Mayor Reichert. “So we decided that this would be a good move, to move Judd Drake as interim county manager.”
That ‘selection committee’ is composed of human resources, budget and finance director, a private attorney, and county attorney, Judd Drake.
Mayor Reichert says Drake will take on county manager duties for the next 3 to 6 months.
