CRAWFORD COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – If you have not already enrolled in healthcare, health officials say now is a good time.

It’s that time of the year again. open is going on and enrollment ends on December 15th. That’s six weeks earlier than what people are accustom to. the deadline is usually at the end of January but it’s different this year.

Neighborhood navigators like Amber Higgins and Jose Rodriquez will be available to help. Several residents in Crawford County took advantage of the help Wednesday at the Crawford County public library. People were able to talk with healthcare experts to find a plan that works best for them.

Higgins says, “I enrolled a woman in her fifties who got a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan with a $200 deductible for less than $2 a month. If she tried to get that same plan on her own without any financial assistance, it would have costed her more than $1000 a month.”

Healthcare navigators recommend people enroll before the deadline so they can avoid the tax penalty. Higgins says people can go to www.insure-ga.org and click on the “find events by county” tab and select their county to find out when navigators are the area to help.

Navigators will be available everyday except Sundays. Navigation assistance in spanish is provided as well. Here’s a list of future dates:
