BLECKLEY COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A former Bleckley County detention officer is out on bond after being arrested Monday for sexually assaulting a female inmate.
62-year-old David Strong, of Cochran, was placed on administrative leave in November after allegations he improperly touched the female inmate. According to a news release from the Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office, the GBI opened an investigation the same day Sheriff Kris Coody notified the GBI about the allegations.
When the GBI updated Coody about the investigation on Dec. 1, Coody fired Strong.
Strong was arrested and charged with violation of oath of office by a public official and sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority. He was released on bond after turning himself in to the Bleckley County Law Enforcement Center.
