MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Bacon is one step closer to playing ball with the help of its new sponsors.
Providence Dental Spa, Bank of the Ozarks with First Data, Navicent Health and Jeff Smith Automotive are all helping the baseball team bring the sizzle.
“Ticket sales and corporate partnerships, it’s what’s going to help us survive,” said Macon Bacon President, Todd Pund. “It’s going to help us continue to develop in the community.”
Pund says having only 4 partnerships will provide a better sense of business and relationship.
“In today’s world a lot of teams do just sponsor, that’s why I just refer to it as a partnership because we believe less is more,” said Pund. “The less people we have to help with business, the more successful they will be and we will be.”
Four banners, 10-feet tall and 90-feet long, will go alongside the outfield fence.
“We want fans walking in for not only baseball games, but any other event that takes place here and say ‘oh yeah I remember those four partners and they really dominate’,” said Coastal Plain League Co-owner, Steve DeLay.
Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital Navicent Health is already looking forward to working together.
“We have so many children who after they are discharged from the hospital , they and their parents come back, we call them our heroes,” said Ellen Terrell. “We think this will be a wonderful opportunity to reach out to some of those hero families and offer them tickets to the game.”
Macon Bacon plans to break ground for renovations to Luther Williams Field Monday, December 11th at 11:00 AM. Everyone is welcome to see the stadium before changes are made.
