PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia National Fair is back this year to entertain and excite.

While vendors have been working around the clock to get ready for the opening, organizers say there’s a lot that’s different this year. But it’s still the same great fun.

“For it to actually be here to see all of our hard work and dedication it’s really exciting for us,” organizer Keaton Walker told 41NBC.

Nearly 30 years of tradition continues for in 2018 with a few new additions.

“New entertainment, new rides, new food vendors,” Walker said.

There are also plenty of new exhibits.

“We’ve got a brand new Baby Birthing Barn where you’ll be able to see live births on site,” she explained.

Fair-goers can also look forward to the 9/11 Rolling Memorial Exhibit.

“We saw that rolling in a little earlier, we’re very excited to have that here with us this year,” Walker said.

First responders from all over welcomed the exhibit with a processional of department trucks from across Middle Georgia.

“We had members from Macon-Bibb, Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, Houston County, Dooly County, City of Perry, and Americus. So, you can see in a short amount of time, we were able to get a lot of people here to show respect for this memorial being here,” said Kurt Crumpton with the Perry Fire Department.

The exhibit showcases lost items that were recovered from the explosion on 9/11.

“We owe it to those who served that day and those who serve everyday to memorialize that.”

New fun, new food and new featured exhibits for families to enjoy, it all starts in less than 24 hours.

The opening ceremony starts at 2:00 PM and this year there will be a location change. It’ll take place at the new baby barn, which is right across from the clock tower. Park gates will open at 3:00 PM sharp.
