PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s opening day for the Georgia National Fair and while organizers want it to be a fun-filled experience, they say security is still a top priority.
From the GBI to local law enforcement, they’ve got officers from several different agencies ready to work the fair all 11 days.
Marketing Director Keaton Walker says they’ve never had any serious incidents happen before, but they still want to be prepared.
“Just knowing that they’re here, knowing that they’re providing that safe comfort blanket for everyone, it’s a great feeling to have. We want everyone to be able to bring their families out and enjoy it, and that’s just an extra added security for them,” she told 41NBC.
Walker says they’ll have officers at all of the entrances, and some patrolling during the festival.
They’ll also be responsible for making sure lost children get reunited with their families.
