MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Just under 70,000 Georgia Power customers are still without power tonight, following Wednesday’s storms.  That’s according to Georgia Power spokesperson Craig Bell.

Bell says it will be another couple days before power is back up and running, completely, but he says damage assessments are complete.

Now crews are working around the clock to get power restored. Bell is asking customers to have patience.

“With Irma, we saw a lot of residential broken poles. Now, we’re seeing a lot of our transmission lines, the big overhead lines that go through miles and miles of country side, a lot of those are down and those lines by themselves feed thousands of people at one time,” he said.

Bell says while waiting for the power to return, unplug items to protect electrical equipment. If you notice damage to your home’s electrical box, you need to call an electrician.
