MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia residents will soon have a new option to power their homes. The coalition running Solarize Middle Georgia is having a free informational meeting, Tuesday night.
It’s for families and businesses wanting to get solar panels to help save money on their monthly utility bill.
Organizers say you will still be on the grid. Customers will still be hooked up to a meter for those cloudy, sunless days.
“It is the cleanest form of energy because there’s no production to it. The sun is there, you’re getting free energy from it, very little maintenance, very little maintenance cost,” certified energy manager for Macon-Bibb County, Sam Kitchens said.
The informational meeting is Tuesday night from 6-8 at Macon’s Historic Terminal Station. The meeting is free and so is an assessment on your home, if you’re interested in solar panels.
Solarize Middle Georgia says it plans to hold more meetings in surrounding counties.
