UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies after Monroe County accident

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man is dead and three others are in the hospital after a three-vehicle crash in Monroe County Thursday afternoon.

It happened on Highway 74 near the intersection with Highway 42.

Monroe County deputies tell 41NBC 66-year-old Arthur Rhoades died after being revived twice on-scene.

Deputies say an SUV driven by Dorothy Burkett rear-ended a car driven by Calvin Colbert, causing Colbert’s car to spin into a motorcycle and sidecar.

Rhoades, who was driving the motorcycle, was ejected.

His wife, who was riding in the sidecar, is in critical condition.

Burkett and Colbert were treated for minor injuries.

Deputies say the accident is under investigation, and charges against Burkett are pending.

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office’s Anna Lewis says one driver was ejected from a motorcycle. Initially reported as a fatality, the motorcyclist was revived. Lewis confirmed no fatalities.

Three other people involved in the accident were taken to the hospital.

The lanes of Highway 74 are blocked.
