Milledgeville man shot, assaulted, robbed, and car-jacked

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Milledgeville Police Department (MPD) is investigating the assault and robbery of 18-year-old Lawson Deloach. Deloach studies at Georgia College and State University.

According to MPD Criminal Investigations Commander Major Michael Hudson, the incident happened on Monday around 1 p.m.

Hudson says MPD officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Barrows Ferry Road where an accident occurred. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim.

Officers say Deloach was shot three times and robbed.

The suspect took the victim’s black 2012 Toyota Tundra. After taking the vehicle, the suspect wrecked the truck in the same area as the incident.

Officers say a passerby saw the suspect flee the scene on foot. MPD officers along with Department of Corrections K-9 located the suspect in a wooded area near Barrows Ferry Road.

The suspect was identified as 19-year-old Maquavious Malike Hall of Milledgeville. Hall is charged with Aggravated Assault, Motor Vehicle Hijacking, and Possession of a Firearm in the Commission of a Crime.

Deloach is recovering from his injuries at a regional hospital. The case is under investigation. Further charges are pending.
