MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Idle Hour Golf and Country Club hosted the 14th annual Brigadier General Robert L. Scott, Jr. Memorial Golf Tournament Monday.
The annual event raises funds for the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base. Proceeds benefit restoring aircraft, museum operations, and the National STEM Academy at the museum.
The tournament also honors the achievements of Brig. Gen. Robert L. Scott, Jr., one of Macon’s hometown heroes during World War II.
The Museum of Aviation Foundation President Chrissy Miner says the annual tournament is one of biggest fundraisers for the museum.
“Tournaments like these help us raise the funds that are needed to continue these programs for our youth [and] to preserve our history of the United States Air Force at the Museum of Aviation,” Miner said.
More than 180 golfers are expected to take part in the golf tournament.
