MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested 41-year-old Marcus Allen Lillard for Murder, Aggravated Assault, and the Concealing Death of Another.
Investigators say that the arrest happened on May 13th at approximately 3 p.m.
On May 12th around 1:06 a.m., deputies say that the 911 Center received a call about 43-year-old Marianne Clopton Shockley having difficulty breathing. Authorities say deputies arrived at the residence and found Shockley unresponsive.
Deputies also identified the homeowner as 69-year-old Sydney Clark Heindel, who was present at the scene with Lillard.
While at the residence, Lillard and Heindel separated. Deputies say they placed Lillard in the patrol car.
Deputies say Heindel then went back into his home and committed suicide.
Around 3:15 a.m., Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the GBI with the suicide investigation and the death of Shockley. GBI agents arrived on the scene and assisted in the investigation.
Authorities say that Heindel And Shockley were taken to the GBI crime lab, where final autopsy results are pending. The preliminary investigation indicates that Heindel’s wounds are self-inflicted and Shockley’s injuries are a result of a homicide.
Deputies took Lillard to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities charged Him with a probation violation.
Authorities are holding Lillard at the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
