MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An Oglethorpe man is pronounced dead in a car crash that happened on May 3rd around 5 p.m.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigated a single car accident that happened on I-75 southbound at the Eisenhower Parkway exit ramp.
Investigators identified the driver as 25-year-old Torrence Lockhart. They also identified the passenger as 29-year-old Andrea Simmons, both of Oglethorpe, Georgia.
They say Lockhart lost control of the car and it went off into the woods.
Authorities say that the car then burst into flames. Passerby’s helped get Lockhart and Simmons out of the vehicle.
Authorities say that medical professionals took Simmons to Navicent Health. A medical helicopter airlifted Lockhart to Grady hospital in Atlanta.
According to Coroner Leon Jones, the Grady Burn Center pronounced Torrence Lockhart dead around 2:52 a.m. on Thursday.
Simmons has been released from the hospital.
This accident is still under investigation.
