ATLANTA (AP) – Three Republicans and one Democrat are on the ballot for a special election to fill a Coweta County-based seat in the Georgia House.
Republicans Nina Blackwelder, Marcy Westmorland Sakrison and Philip Singleton and Democrat Jill Prouty face off Tuesday in state House District 71.
They’re vying to replace Republican Rep. David Stover of Newnan, who was first elected in 2013 and resigned in June to spend more time with his family.
Stover had faced questions about his residency after marrying a woman from the United Kingdom, but insisted he still resided within the district.
The top two finishers will advance to an Oct. 1 runoff if no candidate receives over 50% of votes.
