MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon Transit Authority wants everyone to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.
One way to keep everyone safe is by reducing touch-points. So, MTA is urging riders to download the Token Transit app.
Riders can then use their smart device instead of purchasing tickets on-board or at a station. Riders can then use that device in place of a regular ticket.
Jami Gaudet with MTA says that this will reduce the spread of COVID-19 and also speed things up for riders.
“Think about the practicality and efficiency of that so that works well as far as I’m concerned for everybody. On our end, practicality in terms of not tying up our personnel and also for the consumer, the rider, who just does it all beforehand,” Gaudet said.
Gaudet also says that the creators of the Token Transit app made a unique security feature for MTA that includes an image of a Cherry Blossom since Macon is the Cherry Blossoms capitol. MTA was the first organization with a unique security image.
