MACON, Georgi(41NBC/WMGT) — Newtown Macon held a ribbon cutting ceremony this week to celebrate renovations at Poplar Yard in downtown Macon, an area on Poplar Street between Second and Third Streets.
The renovations include more concrete for people to walk on, tables and chairs, more greenery and a ping pong table.
Partners involved in the project:
- Business Improvement District
- Peyton Anderson Foundation
- Macon-Bibb Parks and Beautification
The area is now a place for people to enjoy with friends and family. Erin Keller, the VP for Development at Newtown Macon, says she hopes it will help attract visitors.
“I can see small intimate concerts, people doing spoken word,” she said. “It’s gonna be a really cool to see what people do with this space.”
