Coroner: Man shot multiple times, killed on Churchill Street in Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is working to figure out how a body ended up under a mattress at an illegal dumping site in Macon.

Deputies say someone walking along Churchill Street in Macon found the body under debris around 9:30 Friday morning.

Coroner Leon Jones identified the victim as 26-year-old Rashad Norwood of Macon. Jones says he died from multiple gunshot wounds.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators believe the actual shooting happened in a different location, and they are working to gather more details.

Coroner Jones say this is Macon’s 22nd homicide this year.
