Mercer’s Riley Carter and Kirsten Stevens have been named the Southern Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced Monday. The selections are made by the Southern Conference office.

ETSU women beat Mercer in SoCon semifinals

Three different Buccaneers recorded a double-double and ETSU held off Mercer, 66-56, in the second semifinal game of the 2015 Southern Conference Women’s Championship, presented by General Shale. The win moves the Buccaneers to 21-10 and advances ETSU to Sunday’s championship game, where it will face top-seeded Chattanooga. The loss ends Mercer’s season at 18-14.

Mercer women down Wofford, 75-54, advance to SoCon semifinals

Three players scored in double figures and Mercer shot 50.0 percent from the floor to down Wofford, 75-54, in the final game of the first round of the Southern Conference Women’s Basketball Championship presented by General Shale. The win moves Mercer to 18-13 on the season and advances the Bears to Friday’s semifinals where they will face ETSU. The loss ends Wofford’s season with an 8-22 record.

Bridges, Lawrence named SoCon Player, Freshman of the Year

Precious Bridges and Kahlia Lawrence have been named the Southern Conference Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Mercer baseball picked to finish second in SoCon preseason media poll

The Mercer University baseball team was picked to finish second in the Southern Conference’s Preseason Media Poll, while finishing third in the SoCon Coaches Poll as released by the conference office today.
